Genting Highlands Breakfast Ride

18 April 2010

The usual ride destination if no one has any clue where to goof the morning off on a bike. Currently, CB&TL's outdoor area is under-going renovation and is out of bound to diners. The 5 or so tables along the corridor could barely accommodate the usual bikers assembled in the morning. So, the trick is to arrive before 930am to stake claim to the tables ..

The morning was again a little damp making the road hard to ride. The damp road also made any intentional oil spills  by unscrupulous tow truck operators hard to spot. It was nice to crack my zed's throttle letting off the 4-cylinders' howl at 10,000 rpm . I admit that I am more accustomed the gentle blop-blop sound from a boxer twin . Beside the mechanical difference, I have to re-adjust to the handling characteristic of my zed. The zed being lighter was a lot easier to flick and toss around . However, being a 'budget' commuter bike, the bike's basic suspensions  were also a lot harder to control. The bike would dive excessively when I slammed the brake hard during a hard cornering. Anyway, I confessed I do not possessed the gut  to ride through the corners at high speed

We arrived fairly early at Coffee Beam with only a few HOgs and Dualies beating us to the tables ..however, by 1030am, the place became fairly crowded with bikers. Looking at the bikes , BMW R1200Gs again ruled the roast by having the most model/make parked. So much for being labeled 'porky' and too clumsy to conquer the hilly road.
